Blessed Harvest Festival 2016!

Today is the annual Harvest Festival in Germany. Nearly fallen into oblivion for many city people it is still celebrated in the rural, mainly Christian parishes.
Although I grew up in the city this , however, was right on the outskirts where there still were many farms by which my way led past, nearly every day, during primary school times. Thus, I still remember the annual Harvesting Festival.
Even though I am not a Christian I am finding it a beautiful tradition to say Thanks for all that Mother Earth and life per se have gifted us.
The Celtic calendar, as far as I know, even has three harvest festivals:
- Lughnasadh or Lammas around the 1st of August
- Mabon – the Autumnal Equinox, which we just celebrated
- Samhain from October 31st to November 2nd
Interesting here is that the last harvest festival simultaneously marks the beginning of the new Celtic Wheel of the Year. This shows how deep the tradition of saying Thanks goes as it was – and still is – important to have enough supplies over the Winter.
What are you grateful for, today?
…
Are you ready to shine a bright light of awareness on the path of beingness, today?

Steffi
