Last week I received a newsletter containing a quote from Osho that really helped me to re-align with my inner peace:

Just bring in light and you will not find darkness at all, because it was the absence of light, simply the absence of light — not something material, with its own being, not something that exists. But simply because light was not there, you got a false feeling of the existence of darkness.

You can go on fighting with this darkness your whole life and you will not succeed, but just a small candle is enough to dispel it.“

–Osho

This was a much-needed reminder as over the course of the last year I got to feeling isolated, depressed and put upon.

Going Sane Amidst Madness

For example, around Easter last year one of my direct neighbours in the house suddenly turned paranoid, accused me of outrageous things like stealing his mail and trying to burglar into his flat, defamed me and even threatened to kill me – which he also uttered to other neighbours in the house.  Living in a situation like this for such a long period can become rather nerve-racking and also took its toll on my health.

Meanwhile the world around us seems to get crazier than ever; – or is it merely showing the truth now laid bare?  At times it seems to me as if the whole world is acting on an obsessive compulsive autopilot.

It can feel rather challenging to stay alive and keep sane in times like these.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.”

–A. Dumbledore in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Stepping Up When Things Are Going Down

It can feel as if it is best to hide and diminish your own light while, in fact, shining our light is the best medicine in situations like this.

This does neither mean to force light onto everybody else, nor does it mean, that everything has to be hunky-dory.  It simply means to live and speak our truth.

It means to speak up when somebody is trying to take away your rights while understanding, that everybody is merely doing the best they can.

It means to step up when somebody is trying to take in your space, understanding that you are not being put upon as who you are but you are merely being used as a projection screen for the fears and unawareness of a desperate other.

It means that you are allowed to be a sovereign, aware and peaceful being who can choose between action and reaction as a response to the experiences you encounter and that you may do so without making it your personal battle.

May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out.”

-Galadriel in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings

Connection Heals, Isolation Steals

However, from time to time a reminder that there actually is a light switch (and how to use it) and that we do not have to dwell in the creepy darkness of restraint and isolation can be just the ticket to spark our own light anew.

I noticed that connection is the key.

First of all we may stay connected to ourselves. This is perhaps the most forgotten point within our current society where the means of distraction are celebrated so much.

Also connection to the world around us makes an important difference.  This can mean to meet with other people as well as connecting with Mother Nature and all her children.

Equally nourishing and often underrated is the connection to the unseen world – whatever you may call it: God, Universe, Angels, Fairies, Spiritual Helpers, Spirit, The Divine…  In my experience, a prayer spoken in truth and gratitude can actually work miracles.

You can find the lyrics in the description of the video above on YouTube.  Additionally I found a lyric version each in German and English language which you can see, >> here <<.

What helps you to remember the light switch and to spark your light?

Are you ready to shine a bright light of awareness on the path of beingness, today?

Much love,
Steffi
