Imbolc – Dancing the Wheel into the Light
Fortunately, with Imbolc on February 1st and 2nd, it is not only time to celebrate the Celtic start of Spring but also the beginning return of the light.
Light, in a sense of bright and luminous and hopefully also in a sense of lightness and ease.
Some also say, light is consciousness or awareness. Things are coming from the shadow of the unconscious to the light of consciousness. This can sometimes be scary – and we currently see a lot of scary things happening around us. But it also means, it is coming to the light and can be seen. And therefore we hopefully can take care of it better than before, because we can see things better for what they really are.
Who knows where we will be and what we will see, when, one day, we look back at this time of shutdowns and lockdowns, of suffering and death, of some people going mental in ways that remind us of apocalyptic movies abusing words like love and freedom whilst only creating more drama and fear and spewing threats at those who remind them of a different view by taking care of their own health as well as the health of others, and of other people going sane and out on the streets to stand in for human rights like we currently see in some countries?
Maybe we will see that, albeit it first looked like everything is falling apart, it really was a deconstruction of the old to transform and heal what kept us from growing together. And maybe we will choose to take better care to remember that we are together better so that we will not have to go through so much suffering again to be one. One people, one love.
Light is manifold, it comes in various ways.
The snow is reflecting the light and multiplies it. And, after all, February used to be called “Snow Moon” by some, in the olden days – at least in German-speaking areas.
The moon is reflecting the light, as well, at a time of night, where we do not see a lot of other lights in nature.
And, naturally, the sun is a source of light. So are all the other stars.
We also have our own source of light within. The light of love that we can share through our hearts. This is so important in times like these. If we can remember that we are all one and that we are free spirits, no matter what happens to us, it might lighten up the load that times of perceived isolation and confinement can bring.
With this in mind:
A Happy Imbolc!
It is not the masks we are wearing for protection in times of the pandemic that limit our freedom to be and to love and to shine our light. Those limitations are ideas in our minds that already have been there, long before the virus came. I can wear an FFP2 mask and still be free to share my light of love with others and feel connected.
That is how I see and experience it, anyway.
Are you ready to shine a bright light on the path of beingness, today?
